The vineyard stands on a hill in front of the homonymous church of San Rocco.
In the past, during the plague period (around 1630) it was usage to take the sick there in order to recommend them to San Rocco, patron saint and protector from the scourge of the plague. So the name of San Rocco has a great symbolic and historical value.
The clay present in this soil gives the mouth an intense energy. For this reason Serralunga d’Alba is called ‘il corazziere’ (cuirassier, a very skillful and powerful soldier) of the Langhe region.
In fact the wine results in great structure, deepness, fully showing an intense complexity.
