WE ARE A HISTORICAL AND SMALL FAMILY-RUN WINERY FOUNDED IN 1920 IN CASTIGLIONE FALLETTO, IN THE HEART OF THE LANGA OF BAROLO, ONE OF THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY WINE REGIONS IN THE WORLD.
100 years of history. 100 years since the foundation of Azelia.
This has been possible thanks to five generations, starting from an extremely poor reality, the one of the Piedmont of the early 1900.
In 1920 Cavalier Lorenzo Scavino began to vinify part of the grapes produced in the family’s vineyards, a small rural reality in the heart of the Langhe region, in Castiglione Falletto. His son Alfonso started enthusiastically to bottle the wine produced and thanks to Luigi’s father, Lorenzo, with perseverance and willpower, the wines were for the first time exported.
The hard work, the great experience and the moral strength can really create something extraordinary.
The family management is essential as it permits an extreme precision in every step of the production.
Great care is given to the work in the vineyards. Wine is made there from old vines which produce very few grapes. The low yields are further reduced through the green harvest, indispensable to select fruits, to have a uniform ripening and an impeccable quality.
It is fundamental the scrupulous attention in the cellar with the respect for tradition and the extreme attention to details.

We have waited for almost 30 years to vinify the single vineyard Cerretta separately, in order to have older vines. The wait is finally over!
Barolo Cerretta is dedicated to the Centenary of our winery.
